I am now on my way to the Edinburgh International Book Festival where tomorrow night (Saturday August 25) at 8.30 pm I’ll be giving an illustrated talk about writing The Killing. This is part of EBIF’s Masterclasses series and will cover the practical job of turning a piece of drama into a book.

Quite a subject and one that hadn’t much occurred to me when I took on the job. The talk will go through some of the challenges involved, a few of the lessons I learned writing Macbeth: A Novel, and be accompanied by photos of Copenhagen and Scotland, video and audio as I try to explain my approach to the task.
